Kane Brothers was challenged to transform this formerly barren landscape into an intimate gathering while incorporating a koi pond. The solution was an encompassing garden space with terraced patio spaces, bisected by a tumbling stream that fed a dramatic koi pond. Amenities provided in these spaces were a sunken hot tub, custom built-in grill, and a cedar footbridge passing over multiple cascades, surrounded by richly textured gardens. An advanced lighting system brings the space dramatically to life throughout the evening. Of special note, this site has been recognized by the World Wildlife Federation as an official Certified Wildlife Habitat®. The koi pond construction required finesse.  Working around existing mature trees, in addition to limited access to the site, provided many challenges throughout the construction process – which Kane Brothers overcame by utilizing creative site planning and solid building practices. From within the confines of a standard suburban backyard, this site stands as a prime example of the potential contained within a seemingly limiting residential lot.
