Dissatisfied with an existing water garden built by an unqualified contractor, this client consulted Kane Brothers to discuss additional options. The original pond was poorly designed, never worked correctly, and was constructed with low quality materials. The homeowner’s goal was to create a sustainable self-sufficient ecology, complete with a redesigned water garden that would serve as the foundation of the new ecosystem.
A 25-foot by 30-foot pond houses a healthy koi population as well as dozens of aquatic plant species. A stream winds its way past boulders, under a hand-crafted bridge and beneath canopies of colorful terrestrial plantings before cascading into the pond. Kane Brothers designed an entirely new filtration system to include biological filters, ozone sanitation and aquatic plants.
The garden has been transformed into an easily managed, self-sustaining ecosystem that remains healthy and beautiful.
