This commercial water feature design within the lobby of a high-rise residential development at 235 Van Buren, was conceptualized to create a Japanese-themed entry that would compliment the contemporary stylings of the building. Boulders set within Japanese plantings and beach pebbles convey the unifying style the client was looking for to connect the exterior entry and the lobby. Twenty-foot tall bamboo was used in the interior to make use of the space’s extensive height, and a small plumbed water feature adds subtle ambient sound to further enhance the experience.

The Japanese garden design techniques employed in this project have provided a welcome improvement to the lobby of this stark contemporary high-rise, and is enjoyed daily by both  the residents, and their visitors.
